My washer is the kind that has an Auto Load Water Sensor. It seems to be stuck between cycles. When I load the washer with clothes and close the lid, I set the washer knob to express (for example). The agitator starts, but there is no water. The water begins to fill after about 3 seconds and completes the cycle until the knob moves to the 'off' position, but when I open the lid, the clothes are still very wet and there is water in the basin which looks like the spin cycle did not complete. I then have to set the knob back to rense so that the water drains and the spin cycle begins again. What is supposed to happen is that the water sensor should activate and fill to the load level before the agitator starts, but that is not happening.
How do I reset it so that the washer runs properly. I thought I folllowed the directions in the manual, but nothing was corrected. Thank you for your question. I am sorry you are having a problem with the washer.

I think you have one of our newer 800 series top load washer. Usually when these models have this type of problem it is because of a failed load sensing switch. What happens is the relay contacts in the switch fuse closed and will allow the washer to agitate when it should be filling and add water at the end of the cycle.
To verify the problem unplug the washer and open the console. I have provided you with the instructions below for opening the console.
Then locate the sensing switch. Iso 9001 2015 examples. It has the clear hose attached to it. Once you have found the switch, remove the connector that has the violet and blue/orange wires. After you have them removed, plug the washer in and start a cycle.
If the washer does not do anything, the problem is the sensing switch. The part can be ordered from our website: Sears Parts Direct. If you need further assistance, please reply with a model number and more details. If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services. Hi, i have a Kenmore 800 top loader. The trouble I'm having is the washer will not start, nor will it add water to the washer when pulling out on the Cycle Control knob. If I switch the cycle control knob to any other cycle (like spin cycle, etc) those options are working. Only the initial start cycle is not working. I have tried removing the hose from the washer and running water through the hoses.
I've read that the machine will not work if it don't detect water going inside of the machine. I called the place where i purchased it and they are willing to fix it at material cost only, I have to get the machine to them, but I don't have a truck. Hi, i have a Kenmore 800 top loader.
