Manual Transmissions For A Pontiac Sunfire 2003
1997 Pontiac Sunfire Twin Cam engine. 1995 – 2.3 L (138 cu in) (RPO: LD2), 150 hp (116 kW) and 150 lb⋅ft (203 N⋅m).
- 2003 Sunfire, manual transmission. Both backup lights stopped working. With transmission in reverse, ignition switch on, & bulb removed, I can measure voltage (~12.5) on back side of backup light connectors & inside contacts of sockets [both lights]. 3057 bulbs are also good because they work in tail/brake/turn socket.

The GT trim level had an optional, more powerful 2.3 L Quad 4 from 1994–1995, which was replaced by the 2.4 L LD9 engine in 1995. The 2.3 and 2.4 litre engines were optional in the 2 and 4 door LS trim level. In 2003, both the 2.2 L and the 2.4 L engines were replaced by the 2.2 L Ecotec engine, and would be the only powertrain available for the remainder of production.
The Ecotec engine was also an option for the 2002 model year. References.
