New Holland Ls55 Service Manual
Oct 11, 2012 - Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and. To Search and Locate New/Used Parts or for Manuals for this Unit.
I have recently purchased a nice New Holland LS55H mower which I paid $225 for. I was thinking that was a very good price for the condition but I could be wrong. It has a 20 hp Kohler Command V-twin with a 48' cut deck. It is in good condition for its age. The guy I bought it from stated that it quit pulling in either direction while he was mowing. He did not want to bother with trying to fix so he posted it online.

So I was thinking it might be the rearend gone bad but to my astonishment, the problem was that the drive belt had slipped off from the transaxle pulley. I put it back in place and mow a little then the belt started smoking and would not pull once again.
I did notice that when I first put the belt in place it looked in rough condition. Just wanted to know if it would pull. I have found what I believe will be a replacement belt which I have taken from a Toro 16-44 HXL. It is 1/2'x88'.
The difficulty that I am having at this time is I cannot figure out how to put on the new drive belt. I have replaced many drive belts on a variety of mowers but this one has me stumped. It also does not help that the PTO clutch is not wanting to come off. Would anyone perhaps have a manual for this model that would help me figure this mystery out?
Is there anywhere to find a diagram on what needs to be taken off in order to get the belt on? This beast is unlike anything I have ever seen. Thanks for any help that anyone may be able to offer. Depending on the transaxle there are different procedures. Basically steering, brake pedal shaft, some of the deck lift, center panel, rear fender pan and gas tank all have to come off. Having an LS45H and an older YT16H, I am torn between which is the worst. The YT16H belts (two of them) are easier to get to, but the tension system requires a big pry bar, many interesting words and a few other things to get back together.
The LS45H is not as hard to retension, just takes a bit to change the single belt.
